Salient Features

  1. The design was chosen from a select group of invited Architects, for its functionality and bold appearance. It provides a ‘barrier tree’ environment for physically challenged persons. Percolation wells have been provided to recharge the ground water.
  2. The Blood Banking functions are housed in a glass box, 4 floors high and joined to a services block, 4 floor high. Both are them encased in a separate shells forming a 4 floor high Atrium space. The donors sitting over a fish pond and looking at nature are housed in another shell with an auditorium on the first floor. This is encased in another shell. All the three shells form a composition sitting in the landscape.
  3. With 2,00,000 units of blood collection and storage, this will be the largest Blood Bank in India. Moreover these would be available without replacement. All collection will be completely voluntary.
  4. With fully automated blood testing laboratory, providing various blood components, fully integrated blood mobile vans with collection centre, it will be at least 15 years ahead in time than its second best.
  5. Approximately 40% of the land is reserved as green space, basement provides for complete parking facilities for the staff and mobile vans. Future vertical extension is envisaged up to 3 extra floors.
  6. All laboratory and Blood banking areas are sterile areas with epoxy coated flooring and sterile changing rooms stand by power and AC facilities etc., completely in line with the WHO specifications and amongst the best in the world.
